"Thank you"

Dad passed through the lives of many people, and his true, loving family would like to just say “Thanks”......

To all who helped John and his real family....

Dad, his children and grandchildren

Dad and his family.
Without the help of so many - this picture may never have been taken. Thank you.

There are 3 other Grandchildren, Annika, Kristina and Stefan who were not in this photo.

Dad, and this was the kind of man he was, was in the process of organising a fund raising event for a new mini bus for the care home where he was staying. We hope to see one of his final wishes come to fruition.

Dad and the wonderful NHS

Ireland Lodge: They took Dad into their care in January 2006. They made him welcome and together with adult protection, kept him safe from those who wished him harm. Dad later realised just what Ireland Lodge did for him, although he wasn’t so sure to start with! Ireland Lodge, we are sure, helped to save Dad and to set him on his final, safer and happier path with his family.

Aldrington Day Care Centre: Thanks to everyone there. Dad used to enjoy his time there and the nice lunches. The family want to say a special thank you to the management and teams who looked after Dad and joined the struggle to keep him from harm. It was a difficult time for Dads family, and we are sure those involved were also equally anxious.

Dad and Sussex Police

Sussex Police: A huge thank you to all involved, for your time, help and instruction and to the two police officers who rescued Dad from what was his home in January 2007. They worked with kindness and preserving what little dignity Dad had left at that time.

Dad and Sydenhurst Care Home

Sydenhurst Care Home: A huge thanks to you. You went some way to restore the dignity and self worth in Dad. He really loved it there and again you all worked so hard to look after him and keep him safe. You gave him back some life and re-ignited his “spark”. You restored some of his faith in humanity. He had his own room and TV and on one occasion he did add his own interior decorating skills with furniture arranging! He spent his time with you away from those that wished him harm and you welcomed him and wrapped him up with your care. Being with you gave him back some of what was taken away from him - time with his family and his grandchildren. He made friends, something that had been previously been denied to him. He got some of his spirit back and as a result he contributed greatly to his own fights - within himself and legally. So we say thanks for your care and for looking after Dad.

Dad and TWM

TWM Solicitors: A Thank you to Dads legal team. They helped (and met) to take on the black-hearted perpetrators of the disgraceful cruelty, greed and injustices metered on Dad. You did your best for Dad in the time he had left and attempted to restore justice, fairness and importantly carry out Dads wishes to separate himself from those who hurt him.

Dad and the wonderful NHS

Royal Surrey Hospital: Dad passed away in the Royal Surrey Hospital on 24 August 2008. Dads real family express their thanks to all of the staff and Doctors who looked after Dad in his final hours on earth. His loving family surrounded him with love during his final time with us. The care and support given was superb - we thank you for looking after him, and for allowing him to retain his dignity.

Dad, happy and safe in the sunshine.

To Dads Friends: It took months to start to unravel Dad from the years of abuse and stress he was cruelly subjected to. Then, one day last summer, the results started to shine through. Dad could now start to do what other retired folk could do - go out, enjoy the sunshine and have a quick, safe 40 winks - without being bullied or screamed at. He could do this of his own free will and without fear. Thanks to everyone mentioned above, and to those others including Dads friends and relatives and who visited him as a friend. Thank you to the people who came into contact with him in the village of Chiddingfold and accepted him and looked after him. He felt safe again knowing he was with his loving family and those of you he met on one of his trips out and about. A special fond thank you to the residents of Sydenhurst - he loved being with you and was in the process of organising a fund raising Tea dance for a new mini-bus. I know you will miss him as we all will. You all contributed to the contented Grandpa you see here snoozing in his chair. To others, you know who you are - you cared so much and Dads family hold you close to its heart.
