A forum to discuss elder abuse.

There are laws in place to protect the physical / mental abuse of children. Right now we have laws to protect our animals - even a Goldfish is protected more by anti cruelty laws - but - not our old people. Can this be right?
There are no similar laws to protect adults in certain situations, for example marriage, and, with Alzheimers some adults can display similar characteristics and traits as that of a child. We raised the suspected abuse of our father and reported it frequently - dates and times. That is all we could do. Only when the victim asks for help can things start to be done. Dad did this himself by dialling 999.
